About Make Carbon Work


Dave Luyckx, MSc.

During his studies in Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology Dave became passionate about the versatility and strength of Composite Materials.  In his final years he completed several Aerospace research tasks for Boeing and Bombardier at the National Research Council of Canada.


It was during his graduation thesis that he already had a small taste of bicycle engineering with an internship at Koga.  To start his professional career  Dave became a material engineer for Toyota Motor Europe. His main expertise was the analysis and implementation of new technologies and developments in the field of Composite Materials.


In 2010 an opportunity arose and he was contacted to become the chief engineer for the brand of the world's greatest cyclist, Eddy Merckx. For four years he was responsible for the bicycle line-up, technical developments and innovations that relaunched the brand. Among his achievements are: EMX-7, ETT, EMX-525, Mourenx '69 and San Remo '76.

In March 2014 Dave moved to the newly started UK brand, ORRO Bikes, where he could start with a new mindset and work on setting up a bicycle brand from the ground up in a new and exciting market.

In November 2015 "Make Carbon Work" was founded.  It gave Dave the opportunity to use his acquired knowledge and experience in different industries to help and support a wide variety of businesses of turning their challenging ideas into realistic and sustainable projects.
